Work Schedule: 40 hours per week assigned to work some weekends, days, evenings, and holidays. Schedule may change depending upon landfill needs.

Essential Job Duties:
Inspect vehicles to determine acceptability of load or appropriate location of load. Assist Landfill customers at the waste/recycling collection convenience center to include taking payments, routing traffic to appropriate locations, and physically handling and disposing of garbage and recyclables. Operate computerized scales to weigh in-going and out-going vehicles with garbage and recyclables. Accept and balance payments from scale and convenience center customers. Close out daily scalehouse and convenience center and prepare/balance appropriate deposit/financial reports. Answer questions from the public either by phone or in person. Operate Backhoe and Bobcat. Conduct general maintenance of equipment. Housekeeping duties include cleaning around and under scales, landfill grounds and scalehouse/administrative building, bathrooms, etc. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with the public and co-workers in a busy environment. Must be able to make good sound judgments. Must be able to count and balance daily money transactions. Must be able to work in extreme outside environmental and atmospheric conditions such as rain, extreme hot and cold weather, noise, dust, fumes and unpleasant odors. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability and experience to operate Bobcat and Backhoe.
Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Must possess a high school diploma or GED with computer data entry and money handling/cashier experience, and Bobcat and Backhoe experience. Class A CDL license preferred. Will be required to obtain Weighmaster's license in order to operate scales after appropriate training and orientation.

Condition of Employment:

Following the interview and selection process for this position, appointment will be contingent upon the completion of a reference check and the applicant testing negative in a drug screening test. A background investigation will be completed. A driving history will be obtained through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
